Know your limits!

With the festive season peeking at us from around the corner, many of us are deciding on where to take our much-deserved break from The Year 2018. However – this time of the year can also be one of the most dangerous times to consider leaving our safe abodes and venturing out onto the roads.
You may feel as though a few drinks will do little harm when out and about with family and friends but considering getting into your car to drive home endangers not only yourself but fellow road users too.
The legal system has also slammed down in saying drivers found under heavy influence can face up to six years in jail.
Alcohol is a depressant and makes you drowsy, thus our reaction times are slowed down, and we may experience blurred vision. This also means that our brains and nervous systems are affected, hampering our decision making - causing us to make more reckless and uninhibited decisions. Accelerated heart rates after 1 unit of alcohol - our chances of being in an accident have now doubled.
Rule of thumb: You can have a MAXIMUM of one unit of alcohol per hour.
Remember there are also alternatives like Uber, Taxify and other forms of public transport that you can consider if you have had a bit too much to drink and aren’t comfortable to get behind the wheel.
Avis have also come up with a program offering a Chauffeur that will take reservations countrywide, have a vast range of vehicles to choose from and also allow you to set the amount of time which you require this service. They also have an Avis Point 2 Point option which is more for the main hubs and inner-city transfers.
So while you are planning your next ‘vay-cay’ – please keep in mind the safety of yourself and your loved ones and make use of these services offered and try our best to stay off the road.

Silly Spares

  • With the rise of self-driving vehicles, it's only a matter of time before we get a country song where a guy's truck leaves him too.
  • I've never once been able to explain my car trouble to a mechanic without resorting to sound effects.
  • What do you call a used car salesman? A Cardealologist.
  • What has four wheels and flies? A Garbage Truck.

GUESS THE PART WINNER

Congrats!

The solution is in the problem

Baruch Raff

“Fall in love with the problem and the solution will come” this was the take-home message from a talk I attended featuring Uri Levine, the co-founder of WAZE and a serial entrepreneur.

As you are aware, last week we closed our competition for the Force Tool Trolley. Congratulations to Benjamin Hendricks from Ladysmith on your amazing prize.

Please don’t be disappointed if you didn’t win. We will be running further competitions. Watch this space.

Part of the competition was an optional survey which was completed by more than 1500 users! We asked you to tell us where you currently buy spares along with some of the issues that you faced. Most of you listed delivery time, quality of the product, mission of finding the right part and similar problems.

At Start My Car this is the problem we’ve fallen in love with and this is what we are doing about it

  • We specialize in specific ranges, ranges that your average spare shop only carries a few numbers and the turnaround time is long. We dispatch the product the same day!
  • We carry product that is OE quality, for sure you can find a product for half the price, but you not doing yourself a favour by fitting a sub par product.
  • Our site is open 24/7 no long queues or driving around town from one spare shop to the next.
Each day 5-star reviews and thank you emails flood our inbox from yesterday’s customers. Words like “amazing service”, “fastest deliver”, “great product” are always on the list. This is the biggest proof that the solution has started to come.
At Start My Car we are continuously striving to improve. For that reason we value your input. I assure you, we will listen.
The solution is in the problem.
