Many of us were ecstatic to hear the news from the president that the country will be moving down to covid alert level 1.
Of course, this still means we need to all do our best to continue to practice the covid protocols we have become accustomed to, but this change has most definitely brought with it both economic relief for many struggling businesses as well a new sense of ‘freedom.’
With summer upon us and this alure of being able to ‘venture’ out into bigger gatherings and events, you can certainly feel a buzz in their air.
So how has this change affected the ecommerce landscape?
Ecommerce sales continues to grow overall, and the upward trajectory has most definitely not hit the brakes heading into the silly season.
After a discussion with many of my colleagues in a variety of ecommerce businesses there has been a ‘slowing’ of certain departmental sales.
However, with the change to alert level 1, we, in the Automotive industry have seen a spike in the sale of both spare parts and accessories.
This lends itself to the fact that many South Africans are hitting our roads again for some well-deserved time off, to visit family and friends or to finally attend that event that they have been waiting for all year.
Along with Automotive, categories like camping, sport, health & fitness have all seen a boost in revenue as they too coincide with the easing of restrictions, travel and well ‘that summer body ‘.
Unfortunately we cant help you get ‘ripped ‘(well, unless you have to drive to the gym) but we can most definitely assist you in getting some of this weeks top ‘road trip ‘ sellers.
