Normally, at this time of the year we are asking each other what the date is or even what day of the week it may be. But 2020 has been a year like no other with weeks gelling into weekends and vice versa, leaving us almost living life a bit like Groundhog Day.
But nevertheless, there is a degree of relaxation expected over Christmas, boxing day and new year, which I am certain will affect service delivery and create a few frustrated shoppers around South Africa.
Online never sleeps, you can shop 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year. However, you will find or rather not find as much variety as you are used to over this period due to many suppliers and 3rd party sellers closing their doors for a well-deserved rest.
But this year may be a little different than the years of the past, and why not? its 2020 after all, and for the overwhelming reason too that many companies are still trying to recover from what has been a catastrophic financial year for many.
After my conversation with many fellow e-tailers and suppliers alike, I have found a considerable number of them running skeleton staff over the festive period to ensure that they can still get a bite of the e-comm ‘Christmas cake’ , while many South Africans are still shopping safely at home in light of Second Wave of the Covid19 outbreak.
So, I think it is safe to say that no matter what day of the year it is or how exhausted so many are by the heaviness of the 2020 that ecommerce will still be running as close to optimum as possible, giving the Nation almost all the products and deals they have been accustomed too.
So put your feet up and let us ship this week’s top sellers to your front door.
Stay Safe, Stay Connected.
