It's been over a year now since the president uttered those words that will be ingrained in many of us for the rest of our lives.. "Lockdown level"
Our lives were turned upside down and the world as we all once knew it become an 'alien planet'.
So one year later, and what have we all learnt?
Well for some it was an opportunity to learn a new skill, to change a lifestyle and for others the complete opposite.
But one thing is certain and that is the world of ecommerce and shopping online has changed forever.
Many a South African had to learn to adapt to the digital age and having to do so was almost thrust upon us with little or no choice in order to get the items we wanted and needed.
Thinking back on the hard lockdown of level 5, so many products were completely inaccessible but I believe that so many businesses did an amazing job in order to not only offer national fulfilment but did so in a swift manner and with as much selection as possible.
And so was born the South African and in many other places around the Globe, 'the ecommerce boom.'
Covid19 birthed many a new online start up's, additional payment methods, retail mergers and quite a few failed pineapple beer brewers.
But as we stand on the next 365 days ahead we can be certain that nothing will ever be the same again.
However we can be certain of the continual safe, affordable, nationwide shopping at the click of a button via our PCs and a flood of new apps.
So let's look back and take a moment to be thankful for all those that gave so much in order to improve our lives and keep us happy and safe.
And in that breath I wish you and your families a safe and blessed holiday.
